Experience with Video Creation
For this project I created a video to explain the best social and behavioral practices to minimize the spread of COVID-19. I am a novice video creator so I used the site Moovly which provides templates for beginners. I selected the templates I wanted to use and I chose this one because it was the most concise. I then updated it with the specific tips I wanted to convey and I added this website link and my club’s logo at the end of the video. The experience was a bit liberating as it allowed me to explore innovative ways to communicate healthcare information.
Motion Graphics Proposal
Title: Help Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Concept Overview: The Motions graphics and narrative video I created focused on educating people on what behavioral practices they could implement to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Statement of Need: This video is necessary because the virus is spreading rampantly throughout the global community and in order to help slow the spread of virus people need to be educated about the social and behavioral practices they need to partake in to help minimize the virus spread.
Concept Description: The video will not narrate the instructions. Instead, images of the action steps will be presented with a short description of each step. This is fairly straight forward and quickly allows the users to learn what they need to do or not do to prevent the spread of the virus. Mellow audio is playing the background to add musicality to the video without distracting the viewer but also keeping them engaged.
Target audience: Since coronavirus can infect everyone this video is meant to target everyone.
Learning Goals:
- Viewers will learn about hand washing best practices
- Viewers will learn about social distancing
- Viewers will learn what to do if they start feeling sick
Learning Theories:
- Multimedia Design Theory (Mayer and Moreno, 1998): Words and pictures are processed by the brain on 2 different paths that do not conflict, so it is easy for people to understand the concepts presented in the video. Learning objectives will most likely be met as a result. Since my video contains only words and images this fits perfectly into this theory.
